Mikey Garcia has had an interesting
year so far. He's 2-0 in 2013, with wins over big names in Orlando Salido and
Juan Manuel Lopez. He's looked very impressive in both fights as well, showing
an increased aggression that has really benefited his game. At the same time,
he has not been without controversy. He stepped out of the Salido fight after
suffering a broken nose in a move that many questioned. Then, against Lopez, he
failed to make weight, losing his title on the scales. He now (perhaps wisely)
moves up in weight to take on Rocky Martinez, another notable fighter this
year. Martinez is also undefeated this year, with a split draw and split
decision win, though most felt he should have lost the fight with Juan Carlos
Burgos. He is a good test at a new weight class, but looks to be the clear
underdog here.
